Autumn Term

Shapwick School Raises £500 towards Spinal Research.

  • Dscf0028

Pupils from Shapwick School ended the school term on a high by raising £500 for spinal injury research.

Shapwick Prep held its annual Christmas Fair last Wednesday which added £250 to the £250 raised in November from a non-uniform day.

The children enjoyed taking a morning off of normal lessons and visiting the various stalls at the Fair, including traditional book and cake stalls, and taking part in various competitions. After the Fair the children enjoyed the school Christmas lunch.

The children chose to raise money for spinal research after meeting Colin Javens in November, who was paralysed from the neck down after a diving accident eight years ago when he was just 20 years of age. Colin is determined not to let his disability get in the way of life and inspired many of the children who face the daily challenge of the dyslexia.
