Shapwick School

Robert Langley, a former pupil of Shapwick School, has been signed up for Gloucester Rugby Club’s Gold Academy Group for the 2010-11 season.

Robert is one of seven players to be chosen and has attended Hartpury College since leaving Shapwick in 2008. The recruits will help to continue the progression of talent through the Academy and into the first team squad.

Jon Whittock, Joint Headmaster of Shapwick School, and also Robert’s ex-houseparent and rugby coach said “Robert joined Shapwick at the age of 10 a very dyslexic boy who was lacking in confidence. However his passion throughout was rugby, and he gained schoolboy representative honours, and he always wanted to be a professional rugby player. He has now achieved that aim and he is a fine confident young man. We are all extremely proud that he was pupil of our school, having made the very best of the opportunities which were available to him”.
