Shapwick School

The mood was very joyous at Shapwick School as its pupils celebrated another year of excellent GCSE results.

Shapwick School is planning to open its doors to the public on Friday 16th and Saturday 17th October to give parents the opportunity to view its specialist environment for children with dyslexia, dyspraxia and dyscalculia.

Shapwick School closed the summer term in traditional style with Speech Day.

A number of pupils from Year 10 received their bronze Duke of Edinburgh Award at the end of the summer term.

Shapwick School presented £2,000 to Canine Partners at the end of the summer term. Ann Norcott from the charity accepted the cheque from a group of pupils.

Art Day 2009 was hailed one of the best ever and is a key highlight of the Shapwick School calendar.

Shapwick School has recently celebrated the creative talents of its year 11 pupils as they complete their GCSE coursework.

During the week of the 29th June, all year 9 pupils enjoyed a week off of their normal timetable for Activities Week.

Sue Chubb, who worked at Shapwick School since the mid-1980s, passed peacefully away at home on the 7th May 2009.

On Saturday 13th June Shapwick School pupils enjoyed ‘all the fun of the fair’ when they joined in the Shapwick village fete.

Shapwick's Therapy Team has worked in partnership with the University College Plymouth St Mark and St John (MARJON) since 2006, and its links with the University are going from strength to strength.

Year 9 pupils recently enjoyed a workshop led by The Somerset Waste Action Programme (SWAP) about composting.

During the weekend of the 9th and 10th May, six Year 11 Shapwick School pupils successfully completed the Ten Tors challenge on Dartmoor.

Shapwick School is proud to present its new set of Champion Readers who have each earned their bronze or silver badges.
