Film Studies
Shapwick pupils are offered the option to study GCSE Film Studies. The school has chosen to follow the WJEC syllabus.
The course contains a mix of practical work and theory. For the 2011 examination the focus will be on the genre of Disaster films and on one designated film produced outside Hollywood.
Students are expected to demonstrate an awareness of the film industry and how it caters for different audiences. They explore how people and places are represented and the issues raised in films. They learn to comment upon and analyse film techniques using suitable vocabulary.
