After leaving school Maggie embarked on a secretarial course before training to be a nurse and gaining her SRN/RSCN/SCM qualifications.
Before joining Shapwick Maggie ran a residential home for the elderly for 15 years, but decided to return to secretarial work.
Since joining Shapwick Maggie has furthered her computer skills and has completed the CLAIT course and currently studying for her European Computer Driving License (ECDL).
Maggie is actively involved with the school and runs an Internet Activity Club with a number of pupils after school. She also supervises prep in the ICT Room each evening.

Sandra Marsh is School Assistant at Shapwick where she supports everyone by, for example, finding lost bags through to dealing with medical emergencies. She has attended a number of INSET courses run at school and has gained a good working knowledge of dyslexia. She was not surprised to find that one of her own children was dyslexic! Sandra’s duties mean that she is very well-known to all students and she deals with everything from monitoring food intake, supervising students moving round the school site, ensuring their safety, welfare and good behaviour.
Mrs Marsh, along with Mrs Middleton, run a netball activity and she also enjoys running a craft club.

Sarah joined Shapwick in September 1996 as a Kitchen Assistant and progressed to Head Cook about ten years ago.
Sarah enjoys preparing a wide range of culinary delights for all pupils and staff at Shapwick and manages a team of eight staff.
The kitchens are open from 7am until 7pm, seven days a week, and all meals are cooked on the premises using local, fresh produce.
Sarah can cater for all dietary needs and prides herself on offering a nutritious diet which all children enjoy. Sarah also works with pupils so they have an input into the menu.
At a recent inspection carried out by Sedgemoor District Council in October 2008 the school kitchen were awarded the top award of five stars. The kitchen has also achieved the Somerset Hygiene Award for several years.
Sarah has attended various courses over the years including ‘Safer Food, Better Business’ run by Sedgemoor District Council. All staff, every three years, attend a Food Handling course.
