Design and Technology Beach Clean

This term, students in KS3 have been learning about the charity, ‘Surfers Against Sewage.’ We have been looking at the effects that single use plastics are having on the environment and the damage they are having on sea-life. Each year group have designed and mage products from recycled objects.

As part of this project, the students took part in a beach clean at Berrow Beach. We collected over 6 bin bags full of rubbish, most of which were made up of plastic items. We bought the rubbish back to school where we will try to sort the items to see how which plastic items were the most common. We think it might be straws, which take around 200 years to decompose.

A plastic bottle takes 450 years to break down, and a plastic bag can take up to 500 years. Well done Years 7, 8 and 9. You will have made a difference.
