Old Shapwickians Day

On Friday February 12th Year 11 had a long morning off timetable spending their time on a carousel of workshops.

The aim was to inspire students with the experiences and successes of students who left Shapwick any time in the last 26 years!  These few months are increasingly tough for Year 11 as they approach the exam season.  The morning was a positive chance to look ahead to where everything will lead, among the throes of controlled assessments and mock exams.

Students had the opportunity to ask questions of other fellow dyslexics, who had their own trials and tribulations to recount.

Among the visitors were representatives from the Army, Ambulance service, events organising, graphic design, photography.

More than one of our students felt "inspired" and informed.

Our old students enjoyed it too. "It was lovely to be able to give something back to school that gave so much to myself.  Happy to help out any time, Great bunch of kids that really seem to be making the most of Shapwick."

We are keen to run more events like this and make good use of our Old Shapwickians
