Shapwick School receives 'The Silver School GamesMark'

Shapwick School has recently been awarded The Silver School Games Mark which is a government backed awards scheme.

Shapwick School receives ‘The Silver School Games Mark’It is designed to recognise a schools commitment and development of sports competition across the school and against other schools. The award is a testament to the hard work and enthusiasm of the pupils at Shapwick who love to compete within the strong house system at school and relish the opportunity to test their skills against other schools.

This year they have already competed at a variety of sports such as Rugby, Netball, Football, Indoor Athletics, Dodgeball and Boccia, with more sports competitions planned for the upcoming terms.

Competing has yielded some great results already this year, the Rugby team are undefeated and one year 10 pupil has represented Somerset at the South West County Handball Championships and has helped the U18 team reach the Play Offs of the U18 National League.

The aim is to now plan to enter more competitions so that the school can celebrate earning the Gold Standard next year.
