WarGen Project at Shapwick School
Some of our Year 7 girls contributed to the WarGen Project (set up by historians Dan Snow & James Holland) by interviewing some local residents who were happy to recall their experiences of being young during the Second World War.
The girls, and some friends, planned the questions to ask, wrote some 'interview manners' rules and quickly got into the stride of engaging with the guests, learning how to address them and exploring their memories sensitively.
The Shapwick pupils were incredibly mature, sociable, enquiring and attentive and typically did the school proud! The Kitchen kindly made a cake too - thanks Dan & the team.
Many thanks to Mrs Dora Watkins, MrsPeggy Long & Mr & Mrs Warden for being so fabulous and willing to share time and agree to return again!
The interview is now forwarded to the WarGen team and we hope to have a 2nd Round soon!
