6th Form Pastoral Care
Boarding is a core part of school life at Shapwick. Many students choose to board and Sixth Form students are situated within “The Manor” and “Greystone Cottage” boarding houses. Sixth Form boarders have their own common rooms and are granted additional privileges in line with their position as role models to the younger students in the houses.
Therapy and Counselling
Speech and Language and Occupational Therapy and counselling are available on the main school site, as determined by EHCP or individual need. Therapists are available throughout the week and fit their sessions around the Sixth Form timetable.
The Sixth Form have recently adopted two guinea pigs; Boris and Bruno, who live in a repurposed summer house that the students have put up themselves. The guinea pigs have been instrumental in helping students to develop a sense of responsibility, as well as being a proven way to help students manage the symptoms of stress and anxiety.
Transport to and from College is provided by Shapwick drivers throughout the day. Public buses are also available locally and the Sixth Form is situated within twenty miles of Bridgwater, Castle Cary and Taunton train stations, allowing students access to local towns and cities on the weekend. Bristol Airport is twenty one miles away, making the school easily accessible for international students. The school can also provide contact details for local taxi companies.
