About Shapwick Prep
Students aged 8-13 are educated largely within the Prep Department, in our Victorian Walled Garden.
They are taught according to the National Curriculum which is modified where appropriate.
ICT is embedded across the curriculum with a focus on cross curricular skills.
As with the Senior department, the day starts with Tutor Time at 8.45 am and includes 5 x 60 minute lessons, with break times morning and afternoon, and a lunch break at 12.30 pm. Formal lessons finish at 3.30 pm after which students have either activities or Prep from 3.45 - 5.00 pm.
The curriculum includes Humanities, Core subjects, Drama, Games, PE, Literacy, Numeracy, ICT, PSHE and an enriched programme of assemblies, Tutor Time and after school / lunchtime activities.
Years 4-7 are taught within a primary based setting, accessing the Drama Studio, DT Block and sport facilities where relevant. Year 8 have more independence and learn to move around the school for more of their lessons for more of the time
Speech and Language Therapy and Occupational Therapy run alongside the above throughout the day, both in and out of the classroom.
