About Shapwick Senior

Years 9 to 11 make up Shapwick Senior.

Students follow the same timings of the school day as the Prep department, accessing the national curriculum with the usual range of subjects, and then opt for GCSEs at the end of Year 9.

The curriculum includes Humanities, Core subjects, Drama, Games, PE, Literacy, Numeracy, ICT, PSHE and an enriched programme of assemblies, Tutor Time and after school / lunchtime activities.

Alternatives such as Functional Skills, Entry Level, iGCSE and ASDAN courses can be delivered where appropriate for an individual student’s needs.

All students continue with PSHE and the enriched programme of assemblies, Tutor Time and after school / lunchtime activities.

ICT is embedded across the curriculum with a focus on cross curricular skills.

As with the Prep department, the day starts with Tutor Time at 8.45 am and includes 6 x 50 minute lessons, with break times morning and afternoon, and a lunch break at 1.05 pm. Formal lessons finish at 3.50 pm after which students have either activities or Prep from 4.00 - 5.00 pm.
