Maddy Particpates In Charity Event
On the Sunday of Exeat January 31st, Maddy participated in the Scratch Orchestra & Choir event in Bristol's Colston Hall to raise money for Cancer Research UK Ltd.
As in previous years, there were around 260 in each of the choir and the orchestra, resulting in an incredible sound. A variety of pieces were played, including The Final Countdown, Mamma Mia, Pirates of The Caribbean, Miss Saigon, In Paradesium from Fauré's Requiem,Hymn to the Fallen by John Williams amongst others, ending to rapturous applause with Pomp & Circumstance, Land of Hope & Glory. The first time everyone practiced together was on the Sunday morning, and only 3 rehearsals later a professional performance given to a full audience with standing ovation.

The concert was free with many opportunities to donate to Cancer Research UK Ltd. In addition to these donations, the orchestra and choir paid £20each to take part, and bracelets provided by the charity were sold. It is anticipated that more than £11,000 has been raised from the day, with the final total still to be confirmed. It was an amazing experience, as always a tremendous success with musicians of all ages participating with enthusiasm to raise money for this worthwhile charity.
