It turned out to be a very close competition, with all the teams playing with sustained determination and energy, in spite of a very cold wind chill.

Eventually, Cheltenham Ladies College and Shapwick School fought their way to 1st and 2nd places (respectively) in the league.

This meant that the two teams would compete again in the final for the Cup. Both teams had chances to score during an exciting end to end game, but it finished in a 0-0 dealock.

It came down to penalties to separate the two teams and decide a winner. It was a see-saw, nail-biting shoot-out, where 18 penalties were taken and every player taking at least one!

Finally, Jade Sievwright, Shapwick's Keeper, stepped up to take advantage of a Cheltenham miss, and smashed the ball into the net to crown Shapwick champions.

Women's Super League professional player Ann-Marie Heatherson presented the Cup to Shapwick's Captain Alexandra Hamlin-McCorry.

After the presentations an area trials match took place, where Alexandra continued to impress, and on one occassion was cheeky enough to dispossess Ann-Marie!

A superb experience for all the tournament players.
